If
you have an older version of the Interocitor on your computer, follow
carefully these instructions:
You
must completely dispose of obsolete versions of the Interocitor. Do a
search of all your drives for any folders named 'PatroNet' and put them
in the trash. It's important that you EMPTY THE TRASH in order for the
old folders and files to be deleted from your drives.
DOWNLOADING
First,
download the latest version of the Interocitor for Windows, Mac OS9 or Mac OSX. On
the Mac, this will be a .sit file that needs to be decompressed with
Stuffit Expander. On the PC, this will be an self-expanding executable.
Once
the application has been decompressed, place it in the location you
want the PatroNet folder to be created. On a PC, this might be in
'Program Files'; on the Mac, perhaps 'Applications'.
INSTALLING
Start
the Interocitor. You should see a screen informing you that the program
needs to write to your disk:
If
you're having second thoughts about installing the Interocitor, now is
an opportunity to halt the process. Otherwise, click 'GO' to begin.
The
Interocitor will then ask you for permission to connect to the Internet:
If
you need to start a dialup connection, do it now. Otherwise, click 'GO'
to continue.
The
Interocitor will then inform you about the size of the download
necessary for the installation:
If
you have a slow Internet connection and are not ready to start the
download, you can halt the process. Otherwise, click 'GO' to continue.
During
the download, the Interocitor will give you feedback about it's
progress:
You
can cancel the installation
at any time by clicking the 'STOP' button.
At
the completion of the installation process you should see the following
message:
Click
'CONTINUE' to launch the INTEROCITOR.
This
will be the startup screen you see whenever you launch the Interocitor:
The
button on the right will start your connection to Metaluna, PatroNet's
server.
The
first time you launch the program after installation you will see the
'virgin' channel:
If
you would like to
create a free membership for yourself and unlock the Member channels,
click on the ball next to 'become a member'.
This
is the first page of the Personal Info channel:
Roll
over the field headings for hints about each field. Fill in the form
and click on the
lightning bolt button in the bottom
row to submit the information and create your membership.
If
you'd like to make purchases through PatroNet, you will also need to
fill out your billing information. Click on the 'key' button in the
bottom row to bring up the Billing Info channel:
Fill
in the fields and click on the lightning bolt button to store the
information.
